Firekeeper Golf Course Claims Awards in its Inaugural Year


Firekeeper Golf Course's inaugural year can go down on the scorecard as a "win." The course, part of the Prairie Band Casino & Resort operated by the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, opened April 1, 2011 and won its share of noteworthy awards.

Notah Begay III, four-time PGA Tour winner and architect Jeffrey D.Brauer's course has attracted the attention of golf enthusiasts and authorities alike.

Golfweek has named Firekeeper in the categories of Best Casino Courses in America (#18), Best New Courses in America (#9), and Best Place to Play in Kansas (#1) for 2011.

Golf Magazine has named Firekeeper in its list of Best New Courses in 2011, siting its favorite holes to be, "the boldly bunkered par 5-4th hole and the par 4-18th hole, which features two fairways."

Golf Digest featured Firekeeper in its list of New Golf Courses in 2011. "For pure risk and reward, Firekeeper in Kansas has plenty of alternate routes and options to encourage even average golfers to think strategically."
